Well, in this edition of YIVF#05, The invisible that we mentioned is the invisibility of the participant existence. October – November ’09: Dislocate09 – Mediations of Locality

Mediating Locality is a project designed to bring distant localities together in a creative collaboration which examines their specific contexts, their needs and the challenges which they face, sharing their situations with each other and celebrating their diversity and unities. Mediation here refers to both the mediation of technology but also the mediation of negotiation, interpretation and communication. The aim of the project is to examine how we can link communities, form lasting cooperation and also tackle pressing issues, and to consider what role emerging technologies can play in this. This will of course necessitate discussion on access  and literacy of such technologies and how they can be adapted or utilized to benefit communities. read more @ dislocate09 page>>>

August – September ’09: Ecolocated: Littoral Lives, M.A.R.I.N part of ISEA2009, Belfast UK and Abandon Normal Devices (AND) 2009, Liverpool UK

Ecolocated: Littoral Lives is a project by three artists, Tapio Mäkelä (FI), Nigel Helyer (AU) & Andreas Siagian (ID), in collaboration with the AudioNomad software team, Daniel Woo (AU), and Michael Lake (AU).

Ecolocated combines marine ecology data with location, sound, stills and video in an installation at the Catalyst Arts gallery.

Ecolocated is an exploration of littoral zones near Belfast, areas where human impact on the marine ecology is strongest and where local communities have a long association with the sea. The term littoral describes the juncture between land and sea, where the experience of the sea as an every day environment for marine life, work and leisure meets with historical and romantic sensibilities.

August ’09: Cellsbutton#03 – Circlecells, Our Destitute Nation. Yogyakarta International Media Art Festival. by HONF

logoCELLS3DsmallAt the present time many young people lost their focus because of the hyper and attractive images of communication and technology. While the distance is becoming shorter to shorter through the fascination of technology, the gap of mutual relationship and understanding from one to another, become larger to larger. The youth living in a certain circumstantiate where they become more individualistic and blast by instantiate of information through technology.

The complex problems is we are travelling at breakneck speed into an age of extremes – extremes in wealth and poverty, extremes in technology and experiments that scientists want to perform, extreme forces of globalism, weapons of of mass destruction and terrorists acting in the name of religion. But meanwhile today most human beings especially young people in the third word countries are trapped in lifestyles or social conditions in which they develop only a fraction of their potential. Lives can be wasted in so many ways – drudgery work, watching bad television many hours a day, women being denied the potential that men have, and a shopping and consumerism culture. Most people could be much more creative. The potentials of human capability will become much greater because of the cornucopia of new technology and fundamental changes in the way enterprises are managed. read more @ HONF page>>>

Aug ’08: CELLSBUTTON#02 – WE ARE THE CELLS! – Yogyakarta Media Art Festival 2008 by HONF

logocells-copy

Cellsbutton #02  – We are the CELLS! will focus on education of aesthetic research in art and technology. Cellsbutton #02 wants to emerge any potential local cultural issues and aspects through the context of technology implementation. Also, Cellsbutton #02 serves as a facilitator in the duration of collaborative working process that will be started by transferring knowledge through research, workshops, meetings, presentations, gatherings and discussions. HONF believe that education is an essential aspect to achieve mutual relations between human and technology. By this perception, Cellsbutton #02 will be formatted to accommodate individual or communities interest on working in media art fields. One important reason is that there are no media courses or media faculties in Indonesia. But in HONF perspective, technology can offer many possibilities for artistic development. Hence we want to make new networking possibilities: between universities with expertise and art schools that can offer the aesthetic context for media art. read more @ HONF page>>>

nalareksa boys/girls 0.1 [installation] at CELLSBUTTON#02

boys/girls 0.1 schematic

An analog and digital composition sound installation on an exhibition for Cellsbutton#02, 2008 in Culture Centre de France (LIP) 19 August 2008. Sample gathering process: By collecting air sample in the environment, theoretically; if gas encounters water, then some part of the gas will be absorbed to water. Eventually, there will be an equilibrium, which means the amount of elements released by the water to the air will be equal to the amount of elements that absorbed by air and water. By placing quadraphonic ears on each tube, I simulate the environment within the tube as the sample gathering is processed. The sound then combined with sounds from pure data patches using sound from the environment creating a sound layers in the exhibition. read more>>>

May ’08: pd patch squareGEM

This patch could be use for visual purpose interacting with sound input in computer. Using basic objects from pure data, the patch could manipulate basic objects such as square, triangle, cube, sphere, etc. The visual outputs of the patch will be vary depending on the sound input and also user’s control on the patch. This patch is actually my favorite since it was developed with a simple concept on generating object using pure data. However, this patch is not user friendly to those of you unfamiliar with pure data. read more>>>

August ’05: alignment analysis program 2.0

Alignment Analysis Program (AAP 2.0) is a software written in Visual Basic 6.0 programming language that is developed to assist Civil Engineers in designing and constructing efficient and safe highways and roads especially in urban region. AAP 2.0 will focus on urban highway geometrical planning and designs, horizontal and vertical alignment calculations using Urban Highway Geometrical Planning Standard (SPGJP) in 1992 that is used as a national standard for highway constructions in Indonesia.Geometrical designs such as Horizontal and Vertical alignments establish the general character of a rural highway, perhaps more than any other design consideration.  The configuration of line and grade affects safe operating speeds, sight distances, and opportunities for passing and highway capacity. A “not-well designed alignments” will create unnecessary large cuts and fills, resulting in very dramatic and often undesirable changes to the natural landscape. To ensure the most effective coordination of horizontal and vertical alignments is the use of a multidisciplinary design team during the planning and engineering phases of a project. AAP 2.0 will help Civil Engineers to provide accurate calculations and designs variables for the constructions of Urban Highway. read more>>>
