As part of the public program of The Instrument Builders Project in Melbourne Australia, I conducted a workshop on DIY electronic synthesizer making. The workshop was using Squaresynth module and I gave it along with Benjamin Kolaitis and Lintang Raditya. The workshop is hosted by MediaLab Melbourne. Photo documentation bellow.
Squaresynth is a module of a costumized simple synthesizer based on quad oscillator on my earlier post here. It uses the same chip, 4093 and modified it as a touch/moist sensor. I developed Squaresynth for workshop purpose, to invite the participants learning the basic electronics through introductions of electronics logis such as oscillator, introduction in reading schematics, and also introduction on electronic components. The demo showed how it sound above. Documentation, schematic, PCB design bellow.
On my first week in Djerassi Residency, I found out that lumbers is abundant in the area. The lumbers are going to be used as the material for fireplace during the winter. As someone from the tropical country, I’m unfamiliar with the use of woods for heating inside the house since it’s already hot in Indonesia. Since Laura Amador, the project manager of Djerassi said that we can pretty much use anything in the area, I decided to take one of the lumber to made an instrument.
Solder Synth Sense Sore Sore Sip (#SSSSSS) is the start of pre-phase for HackteriaLab 2014 – Yogyakarta. We invite the workshop participants to an introduction of DIY electronics by making Synth Sense, a simple electronic circuit that was designed for Lifepatch’s Moist Sense Installation.
A week ago, my good friend Geger gave me a tin box when we were cleaning his house. The box is a packaging for some sweets from Osaka Japan. My friend Sachiko translate the writing on the box. It says “Naniwa So Shi”, which means Story/Journey from Osaka. I really like the design, and how light the box is. So I decided to use it as the case for my mini analog synth.
In end of January, lifepatch are invited to participate in Senja Art Exhibition. The organizer asked us to do a workshop and performance for this event. From lifepatch, manticore (Iyok), Joan Prahara Bumi and me did a little jamming session for the session, with Dusjagr joining us for the fun with his DIY instruments :D
